A member asked:

Had my iud removed in er 6 days ago because it was misplaced & causing abdominal pain. i have high bp so my options are iud/depo/implant/mini pill. they prescribed mini pill but i'm worried about how safe it is. in what order are they safest?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mini pill use: If the mini pill contains no estrogen then its' impact on your blood pressure is minimal. A non hormonal IUD is ideal for elevated blood pressure patients. Any contraceptive method has risks and complication and should be discussed in detail with the MD who will be prescribing the agent who knows your entire medical history.
