This is how it works: Coughing is forceful pushing of the air out of the lung, and when you are coughing mainly successively your lungs will not have enough time to bring enough air in, and that is when you start feeling loss of breath

Shortness of breath : Severe coughing can cause shortness of breath . Severe coughing can be due to asthma , whopping cough , pneumonia, bronchitis , too much fluid in chest ( secondary to kidney or heart failure ) . If you are short of breath please consult your doctor or go to ED
