It's probably rare: Doctors don't have a crystal ball to look into the future, which means a doctor cannot predict whether or not a person will have some rare reaction. That's the way life is. However, in 25 years of practice, I have yet to meet a patient who is allergic to plain Tylenol containing only acetaminophen.

Tylenol: I agree with Dr. Kwok. There have been VERY rare cases of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) reported with Tylenol. I have never seen a patient who was allergic to Tylenol. The only issue I have ever seen was when a patient overdosed on Tylenol and other meds in a suicide attempt.
