New genital herpes: Assuming an initial infection (e.g. multiple painful sores, maybe swollen lymph nodes, maybe fever etc), it takes 2-3 days for the anti-herpes drugs (usually acyclovir or valacyclovir) to begin to help. Hang in there. Make sure they do tests to distinguish whether your herpes is HSV1 or HSV2: the virus type makes a BIG difference in prognosis, risk of transmission, and later treatment. Good luck!
