Safe: All materials used in the mouth have to be safe, non-toxic, non-irritating. I don't know what material your Dentist used, so if you're curious ask him/her for the brand name and look it up. BTW< you don't get to be a prominent anything by using harmful materials. Your Dentist wants to help, not harm, you.

Yes: Your mouth is especially resistant to infection and if the scanner wand is properly sanitized between patients, then you're OK
