Implant bleeding: Birth control impants such as Nexplanon contain Progesterone only. Irregular bleeding is a common side effect of Progesterone only methods. The endometrial lining is thinned out by the chronic Progesterone exposure. Without Estrogen to counter balance it bleeding can occur at times. This does mean the method is not working. An obgyn can evaluate you to make sure nothing else is going on
