They keep occuring: It just means that someone continues to have migraine headaches repeatedly over time. Make sure they are actually "migraine" and not tension or other types of headaches that are just bad.

Treatment: Treatment is either preventative medication (topamax (topiramate) or others) or abortive (stop the headache) medication (immitrex and others).

Prevention: You may possess migraines, but other problems may be present, and it is best to be examined, and possibly have imaging of the brain. Frequent headaches, >15/month are termed "chronic daily headaches", and can be due to constant pain med ingestion. Drugs to break up these patterns include depakote, topamax, (topiramate) propranalol, and otc items such as riboflavin, co-q-10, feverfew, and butterbur.

Medications, etc...: There are a variety of meds to stop a migraine after it has started, as well as help to prevent migraines from occurring in the first place. See the doctor to find what is best for you. Also, it is important to keep a headache diary to determine when a person gets headaches and their possible triggers (chocolate, caffeine, menstruation, etc.). That way, she can avoid the triggers in the future.
