No, symptoms late: HSV2 is the most common herpes simplex virus. It is highly contagious from contact between mucous membranes and contact skin to skin if there are open lesions. The virus is contracted and then it takes a while to develop symptoms. Many people with HSV-2 have no herpes symptoms. They may be unaware that they have the virus. 1 in 5 women have the virus and 1 in 10 men (CDC Data). Beware.
