True: Certain diarrheal infections produce smells that are so typical, they can be diagnosed at the bedside. All the best. Electrolyte fluids in small amounts work to maintain hydration.

Yes & no: The smell of poop is related to the gasses produced by the bowel germs and the odor of digested debris. Various forms of diarrhea or stools tainted by antibiotics have some recognizable odors.However, they are not specific enough for firm diagnosis, just good speculation.
