Throat /ear sore: May be strep or herpes either labialis ( cold sore virus) or shingles or an STD-Gc syphilis and rarely including HPV. Very rarely may be autoimmune disease. Would not worry, For strep would do throat culture, get STD GC, syphlis, and HPV testing. Can get herpes I&II titers and treat with acyclovir and see if resolves. Ramsey Hunt syndrome is shingles in the ear f/u /w/ doc
