A member asked:

How long does pityriasis rosea last? had it for 5 weeks now and getting worse. will this go away soon? is there and treatment to help get rid of it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pityriasis rosea: We aren't sure what causes pityriasis rosea. Unlike many other skin conditions, it is not an allergic reaction or caused by a fungus or bacteria. It may be caused by a virus. Pityriasis rosea resolves away without treatment. It usually lasts about 6 to 8 weeks.
