A member asked:

My elderly mother regularly gets utis. she is often asympotmatic i.e. no increased urge to void, no painful sensation when voiding (she takes 1000mg of paracetamol 3 daily) and no odour that i can notice. is it true her urine must have a strong odour?

UTI odor: No. UTI can often only be detected by culture. This needs to be done and the antibiotic sensitive of the infecting organisms tested to find best antibiotic to use. Discuss with her Dr why she is having recurrent UTIs.

No: Some people have no Symptoms when they ave urinary issues. She should however get checked for you do not want to leave her untreated if there is an issue
