Usually: the treatment with Methimazole is approximately 6 months ....if your overactive gland responds the disease may REMIT...if not Radioactive Iodine or surgery may be the next step. (I am assuming HYPERTHYROIDISM is your Diagnosis!) Hope this helps Dr Z
