What would cause rotten smelling vagina?

Need a pelvic exam: A retained tampon has caused this more than once. Certain infections or bacterial overgrowth can also do this. If retained tampon is the cause, a doctor will do a pelvic exam similar to a pap smear and remove it and may prescribe antibiotics if an infection is suspected. The doctor can also do more tests or ask a few more questions and treat for bacterial vaginosis.
