Safe for use : Both types of iuds approved for use in the United States are approved for use in women before they've had a baby. Both are excellent choices for birth control. Taking extra birth control would not be necessary and would not make them more effective.

Do antibiotics affect birth control, specifically IUDs? I'm on Cipro (ciprofloxacin) and have a Mirena IUD.
