Evaluation needed: We don't fully understand the causes of canker sores but they are more common during periods of stress or trauma. Some people are sensitive to sodium laurryl sulfate, a common ingredient isn't in toothpaste. Check the labels and try to avoid this. Vitamin deficiencies, especially b vitamins can be related to increased canker sores. You should be evaluated by a dentist, oral surgeon or ent.

Major aphthous ulcer: This is usually referred to as a major aphthous ulcer if I am diagnosing correctly based of location posterior through pharyngeal areal and large painful and lasting 3-6weeks. This is mainly treated only palliatively (just treat symptoms to relieve discomfort). In my practice I have seen amazing results with an oral rinse chlorohexidine gluconate/ Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) speeds healing & Lidocaine rinse for pain.
