See below: With "proper" use, condoms are ~98% effective in birth control. Looking at it the opposite way, there is a ~2% chance of pregnancy with "proper" condom use. Chance of pregnancy higher with incorrect use and breakage of the condom, both of which occur more frequently in the general population than one might think. Helpful for both partners to review proper technique and use of a condom.
