Stress response : If you have diabetes then consult a doctor re management of your sugar. If you are not diabetic the sugar might be up because you're unwell but to remove all doubt see a doctor and ask for an HbA1c.

This is because the 'stress hormone' called cortisol is elevated when you're unwell which directly inhibits the action of insulin. If you take insulin you may require a higher dose for a day or two. Diabetes: te diabetes can get worse when the body is under stress. Infection is a stress and this can make things worse. yu may need to slightly alter the one of insulin if you are on it. if you don't tae insulin monitor the blood glucose . Fl will settle in a week to 10 days and the sugars should be fine again , if the cause ,in first place, is the infection.
