Menopause ?: After age 36-40, periods may become irregular. True menopause is when no more estrogen is produced. When periods become irregular, it is because ovulation may be delayed or absent . Unless ovulation occurs, there is no true withdrawal bleeding. Older eggs become refractory to stimulation.
