Heart Disease: Arterial or heart disease can occur anytime in life.. But, most commonly is seen in men over 40 and higher. Your family history may be more informative than broad generalizations like this. But, by your age you should know what your cholesterol risks are and be working with a good provider to limit and/or treat your risk.

It is variable: Can happen as early as in the 20's but depends on multiple risk factors, most importantly if a first degree relative had heart disease at a young age.

Older men: The answer truly depends on which arteries you're talking about, but in general with peripheral arterial disease (pad) -- which is clogging of the arteries outside the heart -- it affects < 1% of people < 50 years, about 5% in people 50-70 years, and 10-20% of people > 70 years of age. Your habits will also affect this, as smokers tend to be affected at a much younger age than non-smokers.
