Gas pain: could be the cause of pain in this area. If the pain persists or does not move over time, consider other causes such as renal stones, injury, atypical appendicitis (rarely left sided pain) , pancreatitis, and many other rarer conditions. For now apply warm pack and allow him to try to have a bowel movement to see if it alleviates the pain .
