Hyperhidrosis: or excessive sweating can have many causes, both emotional/psychological and physical/somatic. The treatment depends on the cause, although there are generic things that can be done to reduce it no matter what the cause is. You need to start with your health care provider and get a complete history and physical. Following that, further testing may be required. A dermatology referral may help.

Hyperhydrosis: I have treated patients with profuse sweating triggered by sympathetic nervous system hyperarousal of stress and panic. Most complain of visible perspiration of the face and hands causing social and occupational embarrassment and dysfunction. Hyperhydrosis of the apocrine sweat glands of the buttocks and groin can be malodorous. Low dose beta blockers and antiperspirant powders can mitigate this.
