Diet changes: Try a suppository, if this doesn't work you may administer an enema to help pass hard stool. To prevent constipation, there are several things you can do. 1. Take a daily stool softener 2. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits to increase fiber and bulk of stool 3. Drink a lot of water every day. 4. Titrate any of these suggestions to the point of having 1 stool daily.
