Bacteremia: When bacteria from the mouth get into the blood (usually related to gum disease), it can cause a bacteremia. This produces a risk for certain people with heart or joint disease. If you're concerned: 1. see your dentist 2. ensure you schedule cleanings a few times every year 3. floss every day 4. brush your teeth (thorough but gentle), and 5. ensure good nutrition & sleep health.

Don't Panic: Dental infections that are treated promptly rarely infect your bloodstream. Let things fester and avoid the inevitable visit to your dentist, a spreading infection can hospitalize you and could become dangerous. Call a local dentist for an appointment.
