Very common problem: I can't tell you 'why' but it is one of the most common complaints. Perhaps you instinctively tighten up as it's happening and that causes a painful reaction w/ most muscle injections. Definitely switch from R to L and to buttocks to allow recovery and try not not tighten up - it's nearly impossible (I've tried) but perhaps you can.... Talk w/ the nurse who gives the shot too. A thinner needle??

Injection site react: Use an ice pack on your arm for 15-20 minutes and ibuprofen 800 or Tylenol to assist you in symptomatic relief. Stay calm and the reaction will subside as the drug is absorbed. Good luck to you and stay well.
