A member asked:

Does having a reduced platelet count mean that even minor injuries would cause petachiae or bruising? thanks.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: It depends on the actual count(number of platelets). A Platelet count of <20,000 raises risk of skin bleeding. But a count of >50,000 is adequate to prevent any bleeding. If the platelets are < 10,000, you are at risk for serious bleeding. What is your count? What is the diagnosis( ?cause of low platelets, told to you???)
