Addiction?: "addiction" or dependence usually implies that (1) you're engaging in a maladaptive pattern of the activity; (2) it causes significant impairment or distress; (3) you need it more and more often, and (4) a great deal of time is spent on it to the neglect of important obligations. Sex (and eating) do not easily fit into this pattern, despite the increasing concern voiced by many.

Sex addiction: No addiction can be "given up". There is a brain change with any addiction, nearly the same as an opiate or video game addiction, a little more different than alcohol or pot. But all addictions change the response of the reward center in the mid brain, and the Dopamine receptor number and then amount of dopamine. Find a doctor who is abam certified. This can be cured and you can enjoy a normal lif.

This can be: A very involved assessment . Please seek out a psychologist who specializes in treating addictive sexual behaviors . This is a very treatable problem and certainly avoiding it or putting it on the back burner won't get you to the freedom you're seeking.
