Pectus excavatum: Pectus excavatum can be surgically repaired, but surgery is usually reserved for people who have moderate to severe signs and symptoms. People who have mild signs and symptoms may be helped by physical therapy. Certain exercises can improve posture and increase the degree to which the chest can expand. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pectus-excavatum/basics/treatment/con-20028599

Excavatum chest ribs: This is a familial condition that one is born with. It may expand as one grows and bones enlarge with muscles. If active with exercise, one can build up rib cage musculature that makes the rib care, excavatum more prominent. There is no need to change this which is benign and there is no treatment unless the pectus excavated enlarges over time reducing the respiratory status, then surgical fix.
