Not very effective: Growth hormone has been tried for children with osteogenesis imperfecta. It can cause some minor increases in height and very small increases in bone mineral desnity in a subset, but sometimes at the expense of more fracture since it seems to improve muscle strength more than bone strength and stronger muscles can cause fracture. In general it is not recommended. Bisphosphonates may help.
