Quit depo-provera after 6 mos, got period immediately, started tracking ovulation using opk's, got positive opks for two weeks straight! what could this mean?

Two things: 1) you may very well not be ovulating normlly after coming off dmpa, not all bleeding is a period. 2) OPK are frequently inaccurate, esp. So in women who are not ovulating normally.
