Yes indeed: Most HPV infections are asymptomatic and are easily transmitted. The large majority of new genital HPV infections come from partners without symptoms. You cannot tell by looking whether a partner might have HPV; assume ALL partners have it. If you haven't been vaccinated, talk do your doctor about it. The vaccine prevents infection with 9 of the most troublesome types of HPV. Good luck!
