Need to know why +: Hey rheumatoid factor can be positive for many reasons. Everyone thinks of rheumatoid arthritis, a lot of other medical problems calling from his infectious problem lung problems to name a few. You need to discuss this with her physician, because what you need to look at it is to evaluate the cause of the cause of the rheumatoid factor and then decide what therapy is necessary should be instituted

By itself, a positive Rheumatoid Factor (RF) doesn't need to be treated at all. If it goes up or down, it has no bearing even if you have rheumatoid arthritis. Remember there are many causes of a positive RF such as rheumatoid arthritis, chronic infections, inflammatory lung diseases, systemic lupus erythematosus just to name a few. Some individuals have a positive RF, but are not ill at all.
