A 35-year-old male asked:

have mri tomorrow take klonipin for anxiety 1 mg was prescribed 2 mg valium because i'm clastropoyic can you take them together?

No: Valium and Klonopin are in the same class of medications. You should not take them together. Those dosages are low enough that nothing bad would likely happen but it just not good to mix those medications. I would talk with your provider about what dose of a single medication (Klonopin or valium) would be best.

What exactly is generalized anxiety disorder (gad)?

Dr. Eric Anderson
Psychiatry 21 years experience
GAD: Gad is the presence of anxiety that is impairing, problematic, and/or extreme. The anxiety is present most days, throughout the day, and does not have to have a trigger. The anxiety tends to be about anything & everything (hence the generalized part) and out-of-proportion to the reality of one's situation. It's rooted in biological, life story, dimensional, spiritual and/or behavioral perspectives.

Could a MRI with contrast fail to identify a pituitary tumor?

Dr. Susan Wingo
Endocrinology 33 years experience
Yes: Most pituitary tumors are "microadenomas", meaning that they are less than 1 CM in size. Mris done specifically to look for a pituitary tumor are very good at detecting tumors near 1 CM in size, and identify about 50% of tumors in the 0.3 CM size range, and would miss most tumors smaller than this.
