Allergic reactions may last for weeks, and chronic hives requires further evaluation. Typically immediate hives reactions are controllable and please discuss the use of a children' s antihistamine with your PCP. Recognize the spectrum of reactions which are more severe and include vomiting, respiratory difficulty and drooling. Emergency room management is then indicated. Avoid any known allergens
