Vulvar variant: Vulvar papillomatosis is a now considered a normal variant of vulvar anatomy. They are small projections at the base of the vagina above the anus. Sometimes they have an appearance that can be confused with genital warts. A skilled examiner or a vulvar biopsy can confirm the diagnosis. Treatment is generally not needed unless itching and irritation is a problem.
