A member asked:

A positive saliva test for thc of 26ng/ml and the cutoff was 8ng/ml is that a high level of thc in my system ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many factors: influence the presence and/or concentration of a drug, or drug by-product, in a specific specimen. Marijuana byproducts are detectable in saliva from 2 to 24 hours after use. While arbitrary, a concentration of >8 ng/ml meets the legal definition of impairment or intoxication in many states, similar to a blood alcohol content >.08%. 26 ng/ml is high legally & most likely physiologically as well.
