ASAP: If you had unprotected sex, take plan B as soon as possible after that, certainly within 72 hours of the episode, period or no period. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.

Safe any time: Plan B can be taken safely any time of the month. Take it as soon as possible for maximum efficacy. FYI, you are least fertile (least likely to become pregnant) when you are having your period, so hopefully that will give you some protection as well. If you don't want to get pregnant or be exposed to STDs insist that your partner wears a condom every time.
