Minimally: Antibiotics may lower the effectiveness minimally, that is, about 1 percent. However that is enough to be of concern, so whenever you are taking antibiotics it is recommended to use condoms as well. And do not remember, oral birth control may prevent pregnancy, but do not protect against STI's, so you should get into the habit of using condoms too if very sexually active. Best wishes.

Birth control: Metronidazole should not affect the efficacy of your birth control. Other factors which do affect it are - if you weight more than 160 lbs lowers effectiveness - not taking regulalry
