Finger infection: I am sorry to hear about your mother's pain, and symptoms. She is at increased risk for infections due to diabetes and being on dialysis. Symptoms of swelling and pus drainage sound consistent with a nail bed infection, however swelling of the entire finger with pain sound as though an infection could be spreading. A medical professional should evaluate the finger as soon as feasible.
