Yes, protected: Yes, the important pills are the active pills not the placebo pills. The placebo pills are just there to keep you in the habit of taking a pill every day and to allow you to menstruate. In fact, some types of BCPs are now packaged so that active pills are taken for about three months and then you take the placebo pills.
