A member asked:

A girl i'm seeing told me today she started spotting. she has another week before her period is suppose to start. she is on birth control. worries?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No worries: Birth control pills (BCPs) have higher progesterone effect than estrogen. Not only do they prevent women from ovulating but they also prevent the uterine lining from building. Many women will experience irregular bleeding (#1 reason for discontinuing BCPs) for the first 2-3 month. It takes time for the body to adjust to the hormones. The low estrogen pills (20mcg) definitely have irregular bleed
