Lump in throat: Hello FMcKay, when people describe a "lump in their throat" it opens up many possibilities. However, by qualifying that you have no pain or difficulty in swallowing, you have narrowed it down somewhat. Considering the structures in that area it could be swollen lymph nodes, enlarged thyroid, esophagitis, etc. if this persists for a couple days, I would have your doctor take a closer look.

LPR : Laryngopharygeal reflux is when a small amount of acid comes up into the throat and irritates it. It is a common cause of dry tickle cough, chronic sore throat, lump in the the throat , post nasal drip, phlegm in the throat, and throat clearing. Many studies show it responds best to proton pump inhibitor rx, like Prilosec, Nexium, (esomeprazole) etc. There could be other causes, so you should see an ENT.
