Post stroke: I would suggest that the use of Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) in your grandmother should be the decision of her treating doctor as to whether this would be appropriate or else

Caution is rule: One needs to discuss very carefully the course and nature of the vascular event with the care team, and expectations. An assessment on whether this is a post-stroke mood disorder or an issue of degree involvement of the brain (or both) needs to be considered prior to instituting a therapeutic option. Using a stimulant may be counterproductive depending on the particular patient's syndrome.
