I went camping & now have bug bites that were so itchy, i scratched them. 2 days later, i am no longer scratching but are pink/purple around the bites?

No unexpected.: The bites cause not just swelling and itching, but some micro-hemorrhage and inflammatory cells at the bite sites as well. They are now starting to resolve giving the pink/purplish color in the transition to healing.
