Pus?: Cold sores will drain fluid, sometimes purulent. Normally they will form a dry scab after a few days and heal after 5 to 10 days. Topicals are not worth discussion. Valacyclovir 2Grams at prodrome [initial tingling before the blister] will modify the attack, sometimes abort it. Oral acyclovir will also work but may require much larger dose.
