Dr. John Chiu answered

Depends: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is usually taken at 4-hour intervals. There is no age adjustment dose on adults but note that it may cause drowsiness & cause falling. There has been some concern over memory impairment for those who have marginally impaired memory function from the older antihistamines such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine). The dose needed is one which controls the symptoms without causing intolerable side effects.
