Yes, normal: Yes, DepoProvera is a high dose of a progesterone and it inhibits ovulation (thus its contraceptive effect) but also thins out the uterine lining. Most women starting it will have a change in their menstrual pattern. The irregular spotting can last up to 3 months. It's the number 1 reason that women discontinue it. The longer you're on it, the more your body will adjust.
