Yes: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, or medications. A correctly done urine test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon.

If missed period: Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about two weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully.

Home preg test: Assuming your periods are regular - at 35 days a home pregnancy test should be accurate. If however you are irregular it might not be. Generally they are good down to several days after missed period. If any concern - repeat in a week Good luck

I took a hpt 30 days after unprotected sex. How accurate would my result be?

Accurate: Urine pregnancy tests bought from a drugstore in the U.S. Are quite accurate. They give a reliable result, if done correctly, about a week after missing a period (or 3 weeks after sex). If a woman wants to be extra certain, she can buy 2 different brands of tests and see if they give the same result.

No period 32 days: Recommend you do home pregnancy tests once or twice per week unless your period starts and is normal.

Should be accurate: A home pregnancy test should be accurate 30 days after unprotected sex. Some of the tests claim to be accurate within days after unprotected sex. In general the most accurate time to take a test is one week after a missed period.
