Depends on location: Bacterial infections may have local complications such as abscess formation and extension of the infection to adjacent structures. They also can cause systemic infection with involvement of other organs. Different complications depend on the location of the infection. These infections should be treated with antibiotics as soon as possible. Sometime surgical drainage is required.
