Cervix doesn't know: The cervix will do what it wants to do, unrelated to conception, because 4 days prior to an expected period, the embryo has barely implanted. It is just now that a woman's body (which includes her cervix) first senses any hormonal changes from the embryo. That's too little time for the cervix to have changed DUE TO the embryo.
